How can I treat symptoms of Covid -19 at home?

  • The first step is to isolate yourself from others. If the virus has affected only a house member, you can avoid complete contact measures.
  • Separate all the basic needs, bed covers, clothes, and separate washrooms. Don’t share any personal items within the household.
  • If you cough or sneeze, then make sure to cover the coughs and sneeze with a tissue and throw the tissue away. After that, wash your hands right away with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, or you may use alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
  • Try using separate dishes, glasses, and eating utensils and never share them with other household members. After use, you must wash them properly with a dishwasher and hot soapy water. You may also use disposable plates and glasses.
  • The affected person should wear a triple layer of the mask to avoid transmission. The N95 mask is highly recommended for a better degree of safety.
  • You should change your mask after every eight hours or earlier if you feel your mask has got soiled or has gone wet.
  • Discarding the mask should be done after disinfecting it with 1% Sodium Chloride.
  • The patient should take proper rest and have plenty of fluids so that urine should be pale and clear. This will also maintain adequate hydration in the body.
  • One should strictly avoid Alcohol as drinking will make the patient more dehydrated. Some researchers have also talked about how the Covid-19 virus is prone to damage the liver, so further drinking may worsen the liver damage.

Counter medicine you can be taken at home treatment:

  • Painkillers: for viral infections, common cold and painkillers also work well like paracetamol OR Ibuprofen.
  • Cough medicines or suppressants: if you suffer from a cough due to Coronavirus, then cough relievers may help you reduce your cough and make you at ease as part of home treatment.

  • Keep the home and the patient’s room clean and sanitized. The surface and surroundings like doors, windows, switches, and knobs a=should be mopped and sanitized frequently with 1% hypochlorite solution.
  • Keep monitoring the temperature and oxygen saturation in the body with a pulse oximeter often.
  • Keep in touch with doctors, update the situations, and follow their instructions thoroughly.
